DNS Lookup
Check the main DNS records: A, AAAA, MX, NS, SOA, TXT and CAA.
About DNS Lookup
DNS maps domain names to information such as IP addresses. This tool lists the main DNS records set for a domain: where the web server points (A/AAAA), where mail is delivered (MX), the authoritative nameservers (NS), verification TXT records such as SPF, and CAA records that specify which certificate authorities may issue certificates. Use it to confirm that DNS changes have taken effect or to check email-related settings.
What this tool shows
-
A / AAAA records
The IPv4/IPv6 addresses the domain resolves to.
-
MX / NS records
Mail server and authoritative nameserver configuration.
-
TXT / CAA records
Verification records such as SPF and certificate issuance authorization.
-
SOA record
Zone administration details such as the serial number.
Frequently asked questions
What kinds of DNS records are there?
A is the IPv4 address, AAAA the IPv6 address, MX the mail server, NS the authoritative nameserver, TXT verification text such as SPF, CAA the certificate authorities allowed to issue certificates, and SOA the zone's administrative data.
I changed my DNS settings but nothing changed.
DNS answers are cached according to their TTL, so changes can take time to take effect. The TTL is shown in the results table.
Can I check email-related DNS settings?
You can view MX records and TXT records such as SPF (v=spf1). The tool does not automatically validate whether the settings are correct. It also does not retrieve subdomain records such as those used for DKIM and DMARC.
Can I look up records for a subdomain?
The hostname you enter is reduced to its registrable domain (for example example.com) before the lookup. Records for individual subdomains are not shown.
